LAST International Program: Field School in Peru 2025

Fieldwork in Action: LAST 395 in Peru

We’re thrilled to share new photos from the LAST 395: Archaeology Field School in Peru, where students are currently conducting hands-on research at the archaeological site of Cerro Blanco, a historic Chancay Administrative Center in central Peru.

Led by Professor Kasia Szremski, the program combines classroom learning with immersive fieldwork, giving students the opportunity to work alongside Peruvian researchers on the Huanangue Valley Archaeological Project. This unique experience offers insight into topics such as indigenous ecologies, environmental sustainability, political systems, and the long-term impacts of human-environment interaction.

Students not only gain training in excavation, drone mapping, and artifact analysis—they also engage deeply with local communities and the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Check out the latest photos from the field and see our students in action!
