Otavio Barros

Biography

Otavio is originally from Piaui, Brazil, where he started to work with Education around ten years ago.  After earning his degree in English Language and English Literature from Universidade Federal do Piaui, he was a teaching assistant and cultural ambassador for Lusophone matters at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, through a grant from the Fulbright Program. As an educator, he has taught English and Portuguese as foreign languages in Brazil, Chile, and the US in different contexts. His recent work with teacher training, academic consultancy, and implementing bilingual schools throughout Brazil led him to earn a Certificate of Specialization in Bilingual Education. 

Otavio came to CLACS to be part of an interdisciplinary program where he will be able to deepen his knowledge of the intersections of Race, Gender, and the creation of effective public policies in education.
