Join us in congratulating CLACS affiliate Professor Silvina Montrul (Spanish and Linguistics, University of Illinois) for winning the Leonard Bloomfield Book Award from the Linguistics Society of America for her book "Native speakers, interrupted," published by Cambridge University Press in 2022.

This past semester, Stanford University ranked Dr. Montrul in the top two percent of the world's scientists. She is also one of six professors who have received Marjorie Roberts Professorships in Liberal Arts & Sciences, and has been recently interviewed for an article in The Atlantic, "The Parents Trying to Pass Down a Language They Hardly Speak"
