Biography

Beatriz  received her BA in Political Science from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. During her undergraduate studies, she was the recipient of government funding to study electoral behavior, part of a research group focusing on Global South and International Relations studies, held an internship with the British Council, and TAed for a course on Politics and Society in Latin America. She came to CLACS to learn about Latin America from an outside perspective, for the Center's close connection with the Lemann Center, and for the opportunity to teach. Since starting at CLACS, she has taught discussion sessions for our core LACS course, LAST 170: Intro to Latin America,  received a Lemann Center research fellowship, and Tinker Summer grants. Her research interests lie in violence against women in the political context of Brazil and Latin America, focusing on women of color, and women's political representation.
